Americans deserve to know that their politicians are not crooks, to paraphrase President Nixon. Therefore, I propose the following laws, which should have bipartisan support:
1.) Going forward all White House visitor logs are the property of the public and, therefore, will be publicly released within 30 days of the end of the month.
2.) Everyone running for federal office, including all members of the house, the senate, the president and the vice president, must release ten years of taxes prior to registering for federal election for each election.
3.) Everyone holding a federal elected office (including all members of the house, the senate, the president and the vice president) as well as all appointed cabinet members must release their taxes for each year they hold office by May 1st of the following year.
Frankly, there are too many members of both parties who come to congress with a respectable net worth to become multimillionaires within a couple of years. The voting public deserves to know where their elected and appointed officials are making their millions.
